17 years after opening, the arena billed "the sports and entertainment capital of the world" is underqoing a facelift. "We realized that when we were doing a top-to-bottom assessment of the arena three years ago that we were coming up on the shelf life of what a suite should look like," said Staples Center President Lee Zeidman. Despite being the world’s most profitable sports stadium, Staples Center is faced with competition from newer arenas like every other venue.
Unveiled in September, 2017, the 170 suites upgraded by MEIS, along with 16 event suites and premium level concessions stands, take their inspiration from the carbon fiber and stainless steel details of the machine age.
