Stadio Artemio Franchi Design Study

In 2021 MEIS completed a study for a full “reimagining” of the famous Stadio Artemio Franchi designed in 1929 by Pier Luigi Nervi in Florence, Italy. The study aimed to protect the historical fabric of the stadium while adding a canopy and new premium areas, concourses, locker rooms, and clubs. Capacity of the stadium was reduced slightly in order to create a more state of the art Serie A configuration. Historical seating tiers were retained outside the new bowl and converted to 365 day public gathering spaces.
