Engaged to conceptualize and design a soccer specific venue in the San Diego suburb of Chula Vista, California, we approached the project with an eye towards phasing and systems that would allow for construction of the stadium at a far lower upfront cost than similar league venues while allowing for future growth and expansion.
The facility was inspired by the layout and design elements of “La Bombonera”, a stadium located in the La Boca district of Buenos Aires, Argentina and home to Boca Juniors which influenced the Client and Club.
The design team was responsible for producing a set of materials appropriate for taking the project to market in an attempt to secure funding and investors. As such, work included determining a number of options for the configuration of the stadium, strategies for construction and expansion, ideas for food and beverage, club areas, picnic areas, parking, scoreboard, toilets, servicing, etc.
