In a conceptual design study for an MLS expansion team in Miami, MEIS put Miami’s vibrant culture at the core of its design process. Drawing on the dramatic mid-century architecture of historic Miami, MEIS’s design also considers variables such as the tropical climate, strong Caribbean and Latino influence, vibrant art scene and, of course, the inherent beach and party culture of the city.

The geometric and iconic form of the stadium features a wandering concourse, which weaves in and out of an outer perforated scrim façade. This concourse design allows for programing such as amphitheaters, fan zones, balconies and party decks to be connected to the interior stadium while not limited to the constraints of the façade. This unique feature allows guests to enjoy the pristine Miami outdoors while simultaneously being enveloped into the stadium space and atmosphere.

An equally dynamic programing of the surrounding space focuses on the design of event plazas that can become programmable outdoor venues for fashion shows, concerts, product launches and more.
