Heaven's Door Distillery Design Concept

In a conceptual study for Heaven’s Door Distillery, MEIS was asked to create the design for a visual and performing arts center that would serve to elevate Bob Dylan’s new whiskey brand into a unique and immersive consumer experience. The design brief included the transformation of a former church into a showcase distillery, serving as a museum for Bob Dylan’s artwork, photographs and memorabilia, as well as housing an arts center, and events and performance space for other artists and musicians.

MEIS responded by creating a design experience with a strong emphasis on materiality and the balance of historical and modern attributes. With a dramatic and geometric portal entry, visitors are brought into a repurposed space which is paired with contemporary design elements. The architecture aimed to respond to the brand’s identity of a strong historic core and simultaneous modern and sophisticated finish.
