Located on three and a half acres in the northeast corner of South Gate Park in Los Angeles, GOALS Soccer Center consists of an 8,500 square foot clubhouse and outdoor soccer training and practice fields including ten (10) 5-on-5 fields and one (1) 7-on-7 field.
The fields are permeable all-weather artificial turf with rebound boards and netting below no-spill lighting. There are also three exterior individual soccer skill areas for 1-on-1 drills and practice. The sports clubhouse building includes four locker rooms, food preparation and sales areas (lounge, restaurant, kitchen, multipurpose rooms, storage, retail store, etc.).
The municipal lease agreement also required an adjacent nine station batting cage and improvements to the existing park and parking lot.
The project was fast-tracked in order to be completed prior to the start of the 2010 FIFA World Cup on June 11th. Construction began in December 2009 and the entire project opened only 6 months after in late May 2010.
