The Project consists of retrofitting the existing Champion Stadium at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex to serve as a primary venue for Varsity All Star Cheerleading Championships. As it stands currently, Champion Stadium is the home of the Atlanta Braves Spring Training and youth tournaments and features 9,500 seats. Additionally, the venue offers four luxury skyboxes and multiple open-air suites and patios. There is a desire by the Owner to utilize the existing venue in a new manner by offering a facility that can provide opportunities for cheerleading competitions and future concerts. As such, MEIS focused on these alternate uses during the conceptual design phase and explored ways in which the venue can be retrofitted for these new uses with a cost-effective solution.
